Day 1. Meeting the group in Gorno-Altaysk. Going to Karakol village. Uch Enmek ethnonatural park welcomes us today, there we can learn everything about the traditions and beliefs of Altaians, try the dishes of national cuisine and see the connection between the teachings of Roerich and Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and the traditional knowledge of the Altai people. There are ancient shrines in Karakol valley, waiting for us, which still surprise scientists by magnetic anomalies.
Day 2. Moving to Tashanta village. There are spectacular views of Chuya highway waiting for us on our way: Chike-Taman mountain pass, Kurai steppe, the confluence of Chuya and Katun, Chuya steppe. Special attention should be paid to the stone shrine Kalbak Tash – it is the whole complex of petroglyphs, dating from the Bronze Age to the last Turkic Khaganate.
Day 3. Today we go down from Durbet-Daba mountain pass and we find ourselves in the legendary country of nomads, where the following lanscapes are hidden – white yurts with desert mountains in the background. There is Lake Achit waiting for us by dinner, there we have overnight stay on its picturesque bank.
Day 4. In the morning we need to move to the north, in Ulaangom city. On our way there are two mountain passes that are considered to be sacred – each Mongolian stops and makes a ritual. Ulaangom is located in Ubs Nuur Basin, near the huge lake Uvs. The city is also notable for its history – today we learn the biography of a Mongolian marshal Tsedenbal, he is one a very famous historical figure in the ! communist field! We also visit the lake – its ecosystem is famous for a long time for its uniqueness.
Day 5. We setting off from Ulaangom for Khyargas-nuur Lake. Khyargas Lake is one more “pearl” of Western Mongolia, we have to dive deeper into its history in the literal sense! Finally, today we need to take our cameras off passing camels because of this wonderful lake!
Day 6. Moving to Khovd city. We meet Uriankhai people with their traditions, everyday life and even cuisine! In general, Khovd is one of the oldest cities in Mongolia. Where if not here to learn about historical past of Mongolia, because a lot of monuments from the Golden Horde time are preserved in Khovd and its surroundings.
Day 7. Getting back to the landscapes of Mongolian Atlai. Snowy peaks, wide intermountain valleys, rivers and lakes. How not to take a photo of the sacred mountain Tsambagarav, because it was exactly that mountain from which (according to the legend) a prominent monk ascended to heaven! Special attention should be paid to the mountain lake Tolbo-nuur.
Day 8. Today we move to Ulgii. We meet the Mongolian Kazakhs, from the ancient times Western Mongolia has been inhabited by these indigenous folk, which honor their ancestors’ traditions and lead the ancient nomadic lifestyle. It is exactly the place for holding the festival of golden eagle hunting, for weaving wonderful hand-made Kazakh carpets, for visiting the souvenir market.
Day 9. We get up early, have breakfast and leave this magical country. Getting back through the familiar customs gates. Today we visit the ancient megalithic complex Kabai-Tash. We stop in Aktash village for a night.
Day 10. Moving to gorno-Altaysk. In the morning, before the departure, we can have a walk to Geyser lake.
